Brighton Panorama Hiking Trip  £20

Discover one of Brighton's local nature reserves with its wide-open spaces, sheep, hills, and panoramic views. This 3 - 4 hours long hiking trip includes the stunning mount pleasure and Beacon Mill.

We will meet at 9:30 at Brighton Marina and walk for 3-4 hours through the South Downs National park. The walk includes a few moderate hills and wide-open grasslands with cattle and sheep.

Mount Pleasure

After about one hour we will arrive at Mount Pleasure with its stunning panoramic views. The perfect place for a picnic, so don't forget your sandwiches!

Surprisingly, the weather is mostly all right. We will walk in any weather conditions, but we have an alternative route planned if it rains.

How to get there?

We will meet at 9:30 am at Asda at Brighton Marina. BUS: Bus 5b to Marina Asda Drive: You can use the free car park at Marina! CYCLE: Use BTN BikeShare and cycle along the sea front!

What to bring?

It is up to the weather. You need to pack different things up to if it is hot, cold or raining. But please keep in mind, that the weather can change, and it can be windy up the hills! Here is a little tick list!

  1. Minimum one liter or water
  2. Sun cover (A hat, sunscreen and a shawl or something to cover your shoulders with.)
  3. Sandwiches for the picnic (cutlery if needed)
  4. Any medication that you need!
  5. Tissues and hand sanitizer
  6. A warm jumper in case it gets cold.
  7. Lightweight raincoat and rain trousers.

What to wear?

Please dress according to the weather condition! Bring a warm jumper anyway as it can get windy up the hill!

  1. Good shoes with a good grip. (No Convers!)
  2. A beany hat for wind and sun.
  3. A waterproof jacket (and waterproof trousers!) if it rains.
  4. Cloves
  5. A warm Jumper!

What to expect?

Duration: 4-5 hours

Meeting point: 9:30 at Brighton Marina next to Asda.

The track is part of the South Downs National Park and Beacon Mill Local Nature Reserve. It will take about 1 hour to Mount Pleasure to have a picnic. We will finish the walk at about 1:30 pm next to Smugglers Pub with its panoramic outside area on the cliffs. From here you could take the Undercliff Walk back to Marina or use the bus.

What if it rains?

There is no such thing as bad weather, there is only the wrong choice of clothing! Dressing in layers is the best way to keep warm for changing weather conditions!

We will go in any weather, but the route will change if it is too windy and rainy. There is a beautiful alternative, including some woodlands. Surprisingly, it happens more seldom than you think. The rain is mostly limited to short showers and the rest of the day is actually alright. Make sure to wear good shoes, a warm jumper and waterproofs!

What about toilets?

There are toilets at Asda at the start and at Smugglers Pub at the end! There are no toilets in the South Downs, but many bushes and not many people!

What fitness level is it?

It is a moderate walk, including a few little hills. You need to be fit and healthy enough to walk for about 3 hours, and you should be able to walk up a moderate slope!
